Jerrel has a diverse 37-year mental health background as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings. He strives to help clients feel emotionally comfortable as they bravely approach change. Grounded in practices found in Cognitive- Behavioral Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, Reality Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing, Jerrel works to match his experience with client strengths to reach their goals. He sees individuals, couples, and families from adolescence to seniors. Jerrel brings decades of experience in working with trauma victims from its infinite sources. Jerrel has a special interest in Seniors and their caregivers-life stage issues can be difficult to navigate often resulting in anxiety and depression. Having worked in hospital and psychiatric settings, Jerrel consults with physicians regarding medication management. He also has a special interest in working with those coping with chronic illness affecting their mood. Jerrel treats adolescent and adult ADHD and substance use problems. He also proudly treats the unique needs found in the LGBTQ community.
In His Personal Life
Jerrel returns to the Magic City after four decades’ work in the Montgomery area. He volunteers in social advocacy and still proudly holds the honor as the youngest volunteer while a Samford freshman at the Jefferson County Crisis Center. This relocation will allow more time with his “granddog”. Jerrel is an avid card player and consumer of current events.
